Rooted Wisdom: Tamanu Oil, Calophyllum Inophyllum
Botanical Brief No. 51
Tamanu is native to Southeast Asia and Pacific islands; often used in traditional Polynesian medicine.
One of the few oils known to support scar and wound-healing in folk and clinical literature.
Tamanu has a distinctive nutty, deep aroma and a dark green to brown hue.
Supports skin regeneration, scar repair, and wound healing in topical use.
Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties make it useful in troubled skin.
Deeply emollient: helps soften and restore dry or damaged skin.
Because it is potent, patch testing is essential.
In some rare cases, tamanu oil can cause contact dermatitis (nut allergy cross-reaction) - caution for nut-sensitive individuals.
Scar & stretch mark treatment.
Mature, damaged, or sun damaged skin needing restorative botanicals.
Tamanu oil is a rare, slow-pressed botanical revered for its ability to visibly restore compromised skin. Rich, grounding, and unapologetically potent, it supports regeneration, resilience, and long-term skin strength.
